This site is used by Economic Data Limited, as a licenced distributor of certain documents and databases produced by the Economic Data Institute.

Economic Data Limited is not owned or controlled by The Economic Data Institute.

The Economic Data Institute has been producing Economic and Social data since 1974, and the databases and publications shown here are part of the EDI datasets.

The Economic Data Institute only supplies certain Academic, Governmental, and Commercial users. They do not interact with the general public as the products and services they provide are statistical and intended for professional users.

In 2019 it was decided to release a small portion of the base data to external users, and to appoint independent distributors for selected products which have been authorised for release by The Economic Data Institute.

About the Economic Data Institute

The Economic Data Institute is a private, non-partisan, and non-political research foundation established in 1974 to provide original research, data, publications, and software for the internal use of members. The Institute is a membership body which does not supply, service, or enter into communication with non-members.

The Institute does not seek to influence or lobby anybody, and 95% of the data collected and analysed is supplied strictly to members for their internal use.

The Institute researches a wide range of fiscal, macro and micro economic issues; correlated with government, political, financial, commercial, business, social, and consumer data. The multi-level collection and correlation of the data provides both a benchmark for data integrity and verification, as well as a solid basis for data analysis and forecasting. The Institute’s research is worldwide.

More recently the Institute has been able to provide ‘big data’ products derived from correlations with very large current & historic databases from national & local government, employment, income, educational, medical, purchasing, expenditure, financial, commercial, political, social media, and other sources which are able to both isolate discrete localities and define individual data subjects.

The EDI do not deliver opinions, but simple, impartial, and neutral statistical data; albeit this data is inevitably tainted with the subjective opinions and prejudices of the data sources, especially where those sources are political, commercial, or the general public. These researched attitudes and opinions are simply reported verbatim where and when necessary, with an appropriate data caveat advisory. The presentation of this data is statistical and has (as far as possible) not directly quoted any commentary present in the raw data as this arguably may be in some respect partisan. Obviously, some Primary Survey data will have partisan elements based on the responses of those interviewed; however, when this is objectively presented the partisan data is put into context, and can be viewed as part of a complete and statistically valid database.

The Institute is a not-for-profit entity and is self-funded from the provision of products to the membership. These products are supplied on a strictly cost-plus basis which includes an 8% uplift to support future research and development. The Institute accepts no donations or funding from any external sources.

The Institute is managed by a team of administrators appointed by a supervisory committee which is elected by the membership.

The Institute’s online networks and connectivity are strictly encrypted per-to-peer with the membership and they do not have a publicly accessible Internet presence; albeit encrypted Internet connectivity is used by the membership and by the research personnel and facilities.

The Economic Data Institute Publications

There are 3 documents available for each geographic area, which progressively provided increasingly detailed data:-

1. A Free Brochure on the Social & Economic Indicators in the geographic area in question should be downloaded from the Brochures page.

2. A Summary Edition of the Social & Economic Indicators data is available as a PDF publication.

This provides Summary data on the Social & Economic Indicators for the geographic area in question.

The Summary Edition is designed to provide certain data for the geographic area, and this data might be sufficient for most users and thereby reduce their need to obtain the Full Database edition which contains highly detailed information as Access databases and Excel spreadsheets.

The price of the Summary Edition is €249 (retail). The Summary Edition publications are produced on an annual basis.

3. The Full Database which provides the complete data (as specified) for the Social & Economic Indicators specific to the geographic area in question.

The Full Database costs €4950 (annual retail) for each geographic area. The Full Database is a dynamic database which updates in real-time, or on a monthly refresh, as dictated by the prevailing economic conditions.

Please Note:

Potential users of the Full Database must first review and understand the Free Brochure, then acquire and read the Summary Edition, before proceeding to the Full Database. This process ensures that users are fully aware of the specifications and contents of the data in the Full Database.

The EDI is not an educational organisation and cannot, and will not, offer retail users support in the use or interpretation of the data; it is assumed that users know how to understand, implement and use the data. Furthermore EDI may in some circumstances decline to supply the Full Database if we believe that the buyer is unable to sufficiently understand or use the database.
